Interventions by AFFCAD under the Education programming component provide opportunities for Kampala,s slum children and youth to access quality formal education.AFFCAD strives to ensure that every child achieves the right to education and quality learning opportunities from early childhood to adolescence despite the existence of a ranfe of barriers that include; poverty, gender discrimination, dissability, low quality teaching schools, disruption from violence at home and in schools and other shocks that prevent children from learning. AFFCAD aims at offering an opportunity to vulnerable children and youths from Uganda city Slums by ensuring their enrolment and completion of primary, secondary and tertiary education. Achievements In June 2013 AFFCAD established a community nursery and primary school called Excel Education Center that has since been named AFFCAD School. In the heart of Bwaise, the school is designed to provide decent and quality education to ophans and other vulnerable children in slum areas, including those affected and infected by HIV/AIDS. Since its establishment the school has provided education to over 300 children.
