“BUILDING MY FUTURE ONE STEP AT A TIME”

Nakandi Pauline Hadijah is a double orphan  who was enrolled under our Child Sponsorship program at age seven while in primary two after  realising that she was very committed to attain quality education and have a bright future although her guardian was struggling.

Pauline’s paternal grandmother took on the responsibility of taking care of her and her six siblings upon them losing their parents says she was overwhelmed and was at the verge of letting her drop out of school because with her market vending business as the sole means of livelihood, she could only afford to provide basic needs like food. She says that having lost the business during the COVID-19 Lockdown in 2021, supporting Pauline to pursue secondary school education would only be a dream!

In 2022, Pauline wrote her primary leaving exams which she passed and is now enrolled in a good secondary school today, due to our Child Sponsorship Program. Pauline believes that she has better prospects for the future now that she is at the secondary level of her education despite the many challenges that she has faced in the past.

“I am grateful for my sponsorship because if it was not for this opportunity, I would not be where I am today. I hope that one day I will make my sponsor proud by becoming an engineer like my late father,” says Pauline.
